Fun story time!
About a year and a half ago, when my friends were getting really into fighting games, I remember my friend challenged me to a game of Melty Blood. Now, this friend had been playing much longer than I had been so he was a rather difficult opponent. His friend sat beside me to watch and kind of acted weird about it, and then I beat my friend, and the other guy said, “Wow, you can actually play.”
Um. What.
Apparently he didn’t think I could play a game like that because I’m a girl. Like, I’m not reading too much into it, that’s actually what he was implying.
I think it’s interesting how there’s still this stereotype that women don’t play video games when the majority of my female friends own at least one game system of their own and follow game news and can play games “geared towards” men just as well as any guy can.
Yeah you tell em, Sandy.
